•The tabletop is actually an oval piece of tempered glass. Tempered or toughened glass is a type of safety glass about four times stronger than ordinary glass. And unlike ordinary glass, which can shatter into jagged shards when broken, tempered glass fractures into small, relatively harmless granular pieces. As a result, tempered glass is used in those environments where human safety is an issue, like home applications etc.
